ASCOA Chief Operating Officer Laurie Hendrix, BSN, RN, CASC, was recently named a one of “9 Leaders to Know in the ASC Industry” by Becker’s ASC Review.

Laurie Hendrix, BSN, RN, CASC is chief operating officer of Ambulatory Surgical Centers of America. Prior to her current role, she served as senior vice president of operations for ASCOA. During the course of her career, Ms. Hendrix has served as an ASC Administrator, clinical nurse and OR manager. From 2000-2004 she was the Administrator of an ASCOA-owned center in Georgia. Ms.Hendrix earned her BSN from Columbia State University.

Dr. Brent W. Lambert, ASCOA Founder and President, was included as one of “40 of the Smartest People in Healthcare”; a list published by Becker’s Hospital Review.

Brent Lambert, MD.  Dr. Lambert is President and one of three Founders of Ambulatory Surgical Centers of America, an ASC Management and Development company in Hanover, Mass. Under his leadership and since its founding in 1997, ASCOA has grown from three centers in the Boston area to 31 centers nationwide. The organization is an industry leader, with expertise in center turnarounds, physician ownership, and joint venture-building. Before he founded ASCOA, Dr. Lambert was a faculty member at Harvard Medical School in Boston. He also founded XONIX, an international medical instrument company. Dr. Lambert is a board-certified ophthalmologist.

Ambulatory Surgical Centers of America. Brent Lambert, MD, FACS; Tom Bombardier, MD, FACS; and George Violin, MD, FACS, founded Ambulatory Surgical Centers of America in 1997. Luke Lambert, MBA, CFA, CASC, joined the company as CFO and became CEO in 2002. The company’s leadership also includes Robert Westergard, CPA, as the current CFO. ASCOA began with de novo surgery centers, but by the mid-2000s it took on the added role as a turnaround expert. The company currently operates 34 centers across the nation, and has a number of others in development.

ASCOA Administrator Brooke Smith was named on a list of ‘Rising Star: 40 ASC Leaders 40 Years of Younger’, published by Becker’s ASC Review.

Brooke Smith, Maryland Surgery Center for Women in Rockville, Md. (37). In her time with Maryland Surgery Center for Women, Ms. Smith has successfully taken a struggling ASC and turned it into a safe, profitable, professional facility. She has worked to increase collections from an average of $70K per month to an average of $240K per month, all while decreasing the center’s days in A/R significantly to an average of 25 days. She also led a pilot program for online pre-surgical admission, trialing the program for presentation to the center’s management company, Ambulatory Surgery Centers of America, for consideration among 30 other ASCs. Her cost savings in 2010 alone added up to $110,000.
